Now that you have an item, it would be nice to add that item to the creative inventory. It's time to add your item to an item group. These item groups are separate from items themselves, as items can be in multiple item groups at the same time. On top of that, sometimes you want an item stack to have additional data already available. Think of Enchanted Books or the Ominous Banner.

You currently can't add any new item groups, but you can add your own items to the existing item groups! These items are added to item groups using Item Group Entry Providers. Each normal item group¹⁾ has an item group entry provider tag where you can add your own entry providers. These tags have the same id as the item group itself.
